Boston Children’s Hospital offers an unparalleled opportunity to train in pediatric endocrinology in a world-class general pediatric setting.
The Endocrinology Fellowship Training Program at Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School consists of a comprehensive clinical and research experience spanning three years.
This program aims to train physicians for a career in academic medicine that combines both clinical and research activities, and to prepare future academic leaders in endocrinology and diabetes. As both an active primary care hospital and a regional, national, and international tertiary/quaternary referral center, Boston Children’s Hospital has a large and varied patient population with an unsurpassed diversity of endocrine diseases and their complications. The first year of training emphasizes the clinical management of outpatient and inpatient endocrine disorders, including diabetes. The second and third years are primarily devoted to investigation of an area of basic or clinical research under the supervision of a faculty preceptor.
How to Apply
We accept applications through ERAS and participate in the NRMP Medicine & Pediatric Specialties Fall Match. Each year the program accepts three first-year fellows.
(NOTE: When applying in ERAS, our program name may be listed as “Children’s Hospital / Boston Medical Center Program.” Our fellowship has no affiliation with Boston Medical Center and we are trying to get this fixed in ERAS – we know it is confusing!)
Application requirements
- Completion of pediatric residency prior to starting fellowship
- Steps 1, 2, and 3 of USMLE or Levels 1, 2, and 3 of COMLEX
- Completed ERAS application, including medical school transcript, 3 letters of recommendation, and personal statement
Fellowship positions are open to all qualified applicants, including those interested in American Board of Pediatrics-approved non-standard training pathways such as the Accelerated Research Pathway or Combined Training in Adult and Pediatric Subspecialties (Med-Peds). We encourage individuals of all backgrounds to apply, including those from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in medicine.
Medicine-Pediatrics combined fellowship
We have established programs for combined Medicine-Pediatrics Endocrinology fellowship training with Brigham & Women's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital, and we welcome applications from Med-Peds residents!
Application timeline
We begin reviewing applications when they are released to programs by ERAS, and interviews are typically held between late August and mid-October. In accordance with Boston Children’s Hospital and national guidelines, we offer interviews in virtual format only.
